Alaskans support Improved Medicare for All
Alaskans pay the highest rates for health care in the United States, the country with the most expensive healthcare in the world. One in ten Alaskans has no coverage at all, meaning thousands must choose between the health care they need, going into debt, or crowdsourcing medical bills. The high costs of insuring employees hobbles small business and stifles wages, further crippling Alaska’s economy. Our complicated system is not only inefficient, but it fractures care, leading to worse health outcomes.
The pandemic made glaringly obvious that health care is a public good, not just a commodity to be bought and sold. Alaskans are ready to solve our health care problems with a national program that can reduce our costs while expanding high quality care to everyone.
